The Weapon and Parry Codices provide a player progression system in Outlands, allowing players to enhance their weapon skills by leveling Codex Stances, unlocking Finishers, and gaining unique Abilities for their respective weapon skill. Players can craft Codices using the Inscription skill.
All Codices are Blessed and cannot be stolen. To use a Weapon Codex, players must have at least 80 Tactics and 80 in their respective weapon skill. The exception to this is the Arcane Codex, which requires 80 Wrestling and 80 Arcane skill. In contrast, a Parry Codex requires 80 Tactics or 80 Wrestling and 80 Parrying.
Skill requirements are based on printed skill, meaning any Tactics bonus from crafted or magical weapons does not contribute to meeting the 80 Tactics requirement. Each character's Codex Profile is stored on a per-character basis and not in the item itself, ensuring that progress is saved even if the Codex is lost or replaced. However, players must still have the Codex in their backpack to level and use it.
Weapon abilities and finishers cannot be triggered on backstabs.

Experience and Upgrade Points
Players gain experience towards Codices by killing creatures while using a weapon type matching a Codex they meet the skill requirements for.
A Parry Codex will gain experience as long as the player has a two-handed weapon or shield equipped. Players can level multiple Codices at once, provided their weapon matches one and they meet the required skill levels.
Each Upgrade Point requires 5,000 gold-earned worth of experience.

2 | 8 | 40,000 |

Stances
By double-clicking a Codex, players can open their character's Codex Profile menu for that skill. The top half of the menu displays the five available Stances. Players can click the large button next to each stance to activate or deactivate it.
Players can single-click their Codex in their backpack to view which Stance and Finisher are currently activated for that skill. There is no cooldown between stance changes; however, each stance change will cost 3 Mana.
Stance Ranks
Each Stance can be upgraded up to Rank 7, with each rank costing progressively more points. Higher stance ranks provide more powerful effects.
Stance Auto-Renewal
Players can toggle Auto-Renew for their stance using checkboxes in the Codex Hotbar. This feature attempts to automatically reactivate a stance 10 seconds after activation. Auto-renewing is particularly useful for:
- Wrestling Adoption Stance (which provides bonuses for the first 10 seconds of activation).
- Discipline Armor Aspect mechanics (which interact with mana usage).
Note: If both a Weapon Codex Stance and a Parry Codex Stance are set to auto-renew, both will consume mana upon renewal.
Finishers
When a player reaches Rank 5 in any stance, they unlock the ability to select a Finisher.
Weapon finishers are powerful melee hits that trigger randomly when attacking a creature below 25% health (or 33% health for bosses). Parry Finishers, on the other hand, activate defensively when a player drops below 33% of their max health.
Each Codex provides two Finisher options, which can be toggled freely.
Finisher Tiers
- When players first unlock Finishers, they start at Tier 1.
- Each additional Rank 5 stance increases the Finisher Chance by 2%, up to a max of Tier 5.
- Weapon finishers scale in damage and chance of occurring based on the weapon type.
- The Finisher Chance is further increased by a player's Anatomy skill.
Weapon Abilities
Each Weapon Codex has three unique Weapon Abilities that players can unlock and activate. Unlocking a Weapon Ability requires 50 points.
Players must fully charge their Weapon Ability Meter before activating an ability. The meter fills every 6 seconds by 10% + (10% * (Arms Lore Skill / 100)), meaning a full charge takes 60 seconds by default but can be reduced to 24 seconds at max Arms Lore.
Once toggled, the ability will activate on the next melee hit.
Codex Hotbar
The Codex Hotbar allows players to quickly switch stances, finishers, and weapon abilities, as well as monitor their Weapon Ability Meter.
Players can access the Codex Hotbar via the hotbar button at the bottom of any Codex menu or by using the [CodexHotbar] command.
