Players will encounter Time Runes as loot inside of Time Dungeon. Previously, these runes would decay if removed from Time Dungeon, but as of the Outlands Patch April 2, 2025, they no longer decay and can be stored anywhere. Their loot chance has been slightly reduced as part of this change.

Players can use at most one Time Rune every 60 seconds (this cooldown is separate from the new Global Cooldowns on restricted runes). There are four Circles of Time Runes, with higher-level runes being found on the corpses of more difficult creatures. To make carrying multiple runes more manageable, players can craft a Time Dungeon Satchel, which reduces both the item count and weight of stored runes.

Time Rune Usage

To activate a Time Rune, players must double-click it. Upon activation, the player will be frozen in place for (Rune Circle x 1) seconds, after which the rune will be consumed (unless it fails due to a Global Cooldown).

Players can shift-click a Time Rune and select the "Description" option to view details about its base effects, as well as any bonuses applied from Codex Upgrades.

Time Runes & Codex Upgrades

Players can craft a Time Dungeon Codex using the Inscription skill. By utilizing this codex, players can earn experience within Time Dungeon and upgrade the power of the Time Runes they use.

Note: As of Outlands Patch April 2, 2025, several Time Runes are now considered "Restricted" and are subject to global cooldowns, as detailed in the section below.

  • A visible Cooldown Marker is placed at the activation spot. Players can single-click this marker to see the Rune type on cooldown and the remaining time.
  • Attempting to activate a Restricted Rune while a Global Cooldown for that type is active nearby will fail, and the player will receive a system message indicating the cooldown and its originating location.

The following Time Runes are now Restricted and trigger Global Cooldowns:
