The Lore System introduces unique snippets of world lore about the lands of Outlands. This system encompasses knowledge about Creatures, Towns, Dungeons, History, Mythical Figures, and Notable Personages within the game world.

Players will encounter Research Materials throughout their journey, which must be decoded to create Lore Pages. These pages can then be added to a Lore Book. The system features numerous Lore Volumes, each containing between 10 to 15 individual Lore Pages on a specific subject.

Players can organize their Lore Pages by adding them to Lore Books. Completing a full volume of a Lore Book rewards players with valuable prizes.

Research Materials

Research Materials can be obtained as loot from a variety of sources, including monsters, dungeon chests, and treasure maps. These materials must be decoded before they can be turned into a Lore Page.

To decode Research Materials, a player must have 120 Cartography, Detect Hidden, or Item Identification. Alternatively, players with a Research Guide in their backpack can consume one charge from the guide to instantly decode the Research Materials, even without the required skill level. Research Materials are stackable.

Research Guides

Research Guides are crafted using the Inscription skill and allow players to decode Research Materials more efficiently.

  • Players must have at least 100 skill in Cartography, Detect Hidden, or Item Identification to use a Research Guide.
  • Without a Research Guide, players must have 120 skill in one of the required skills to decode Research Materials.
  • If a player attempts to use a Research Guide without 100 skill in one of the required skills, it will consume one charge but will display a message indicating that the player lacks the necessary skill level.
  • Each Research Guide has 25 uses (referred to as "Skill Clicks").

Lore Pages

When a player decodes Research Materials, the text is unscrambled and the item is replaced with a Lore Page. Each Lore Page belongs to a specific Lore Volume, such as "Creatures of Mount Petram".

Single-clicking a Lore Page will display the Lore Volume it belongs to and the corresponding page number within that volume.

Lore Books

Players can craft Lore Books using the Inscription skill. Lore Books begin as empty but will become dedicated to a specific Lore Volume when a player drops a Lore Page into them.

Players can add Lore Pages in two ways:

  • Dragging and dropping the Lore Page into the Lore Book.
  • Clicking the "Add Lore Page" button within the book's interface.

Once a Lore Book has been assigned a volume, players can:

  • View missing pages by double-clicking the Lore Book.
  • Navigate through the book’s pages using the Left/Right arrows at the bottom of the interface.
  • Read existing Lore Page content.

Completing a Lore Book by adding all required pages rewards the player with:

  • 1 Mastery Chain Link
  • 1 Legendarily Drawn Treasure Map (Level 8)

Lore Bosses

Players who dig up a Legendarily Drawn Treasure Map will encounter a powerful Lore Boss that must be defeated before they can access the treasure chest’s contents.

Among other rewards, the treasure chest from a Lore Boss encounter will always contain a Mastery Chain Link. If the player who digs up the treasure map is in a guild, the spawned Lore Boss is treated as being Summoned by that Guild. Any player not in that guild who attacks the Lore Boss will be flagged as attackable for 10 minutes, following the same mechanics as Guild-Summoned Bosses in Dungeons and Ocean Encounters.
