Resource Maps allow players to harvest valuable resources while gaining skill experience.

Players receive a harvesting skill gain check on each harvest attempt while using a Resource Map (Ore Map, Lumber Map, Fishing Map, Skinning Map).

Resource Maps are not affected by the 60-second harvesting lockout resulting from Recalling, Gating, Hiking, or Moongate travel.

Players can now find Plant Seeds when harvesting from Resource Maps, with resulting rarity levels significantly higher than seeds found from basic harvesting.

Deciphering a Resource Map

Deciphering a Resource Map requires the Cartography skill and a Spyglass.

To decipher a Resource Map:

  • Double-click the Spyglass and target the Resource Map.
  • Spyglasses have a higher accuracy and success chance when crafted with better quality and materials.

Click the gem icon to begin Deciphering the map.

Once deciphered, the map will display an estimated location.

Locating the Resource

Each type of Resource Map has a Base Search Range that increases based on the player's skill level.

Type Base Search Range Increased By

Fishing Map
4 (100% * (Fishing Skill / 100))

Lumber Map
3 (100% * (Lumberjacking Skill / 100))

Ore Map
2 (100% * (Mining Skill / 100))

Skinning Map
4 (100% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100))

Search ranges for all Resource Maps are further improved by using higher quality tools:

Completing a Resource Map

With a Deciphered Resource Map in your backpack, travel to the location with the appropriate gathering tool.

Use the tool and target yourself to begin harvesting.

  • If you are near the correct location, a camp will appear.
  • Use the tool and target yourself again to make a tracking arrow appear, leading directly to the exact location.
  • Begin harvesting!

Double-click the camp to remove it when finished.

Special Loot

Players have a chance to loot rare resource-hued items from Resource Maps, such as:

  • Verite Lanterns
  • Valorite Runebook Dyes
  • Avarite Carpet Dyes
  • Gold Hair Dyes

The hue of the rare item will correspond to the specific resource type of the map used.

  • Players harvesting from Verite Ore Maps, Verewood Lumber Maps, or Verehide Skinning Maps will potentially get green-colored items (labeled as Verite).
  • Players harvesting from Copper Ore Maps, Copperwood Lumber Maps, or Copperhide Skinning Maps will get tan-colored items (labeled as Copper).

Fishing Maps follow the same system, but their resource type is labeled with "scale" instead:

  • Example: A Dullscale Fishing Map corresponds to Dull Copper Ore, Dullwood Logs, and Dullhide Leather.

Fishing Maps

Players harvesting from Fishing Maps have additional benefits:

20% chance on harvest to loot 5-10 randomized resources (Ore, Logs, or Leather) that match the Fishing Map’s material type.

  • Example: A Shadowscale Fishing Map may yield:
  • Shadow Iron Ore
  • Shadowwood Logs
  • Shadowhide Leather

Rare Loot Drops (such as Backpack Dyes, Hair Dyes, etc.) will now match the Fishing Map’s material hue.

  • Example: A Shadowscale Fishing Map may yield a Shadow Backpack Dye.

Harvesting animation speed is increased for Fishing Maps, and the completion wait time is reduced to 3 seconds.
