Players can craft a Bard Codex using the Inscription skill. The Bard Codex is a Blessed item that allows players to customize the handling of their Barding Effects. To use a Bard Codex and gain experience with it, players must have 80 or more skill in at least two barding skills: Musicianship, Discordance, Peacemaking, or Provocation.
Bard Codex Profile
When a player with a Bard Codex and the required skill level has a Barding Effect (Discordance, Peacemaking, Provocation) active on a creature, they will gain Bard Codex Experience based on the total damage they and their followers inflict on the creature. This experience is scaled based on the creature's Gold Value, similar to other experience systems.
If a player earns enough experience, they will unlock a Bard Codex Upgrade Point. A character can unlock up to 20 Bard Codex Upgrade Points. Players will never lose Bard Codex Experience, and if they lose their Bard Codex, they can acquire another one and retain their experience and unlocked points.
Bard Codex Menu
Players can double-click a Bard Codex in their backpack to open the Bard Codex Menu. This menu provides access to eight different Bard Codex Upgrades, which can be activated at Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 levels. The Tier Level is represented by the number of lutes next to the upgrade.
Each Tier Level for a Bard Codex upgrade costs a different amount of Upgrade Points to activate. Players can:
- Click the Info button next to each upgrade to see a description of its effects.
- Click the "Spend X Pts to Upgrade Tier" button to increase the Tier Level for an upgrade.
- Double-click the "Reset Spent Points" button to reset all selections once every 5 minutes.
Bard Codex Upgrades
Players must have at least 80 Musicianship skill to utilize any Bard Codex Upgrades (except when using the Self-Taught skill). The list of available Bard Codex Upgrades is provided below:
