The Corpse Creek Contest is a timed, guild-based battle centered around controlling specific Beacons within the town of Corpse Creek. Guilds earn points through beacon control and player kills, competing for the highest score within the 30-minute duration.

Special Spell Handling in Organized PvP: The Meteor Swarm and Chain Lightning spells have adjusted handling when cast in "Organized PvP Situations" (which includes most structured PvP events and Faction areas). See the individual spell pages for detailed mechanics.
Stygian Rifts are instanced, 3v3 team matches where players sign up via the Arena. Teams score points by killing opposing players and damaging Stygian Servitors within a dynamic arena featuring shifting doorways. Matches last 15 minutes, and participation involves ELO ratings.

Town Struggles
PvP Events
Town Struggles are large-scale, Domination-style matches where players are automatically assigned to one of two Factions (Chaos or Order) for the duration of the event. Teams fight to capture and hold control points within a randomly selected town, earning points for control and player kills.

Dungeon Flashpoints
Dungeon Flashpoints are guild-based events taking place on the first level of a random dungeon. Guilds compete to control specific Beacons within the dungeon level, earning points through control ticks and player kills. Special rules regarding resource consumption and item blessing apply.

Arena
The Arena provides a dedicated space for structured PvP duels and tournaments with various rulesets. Players can utilize Arena Templates to customize their stats and skills for matches. Participation often involves Arena Credits and contributes to an Arena ELO rating system. Rewards can be purchased with points earned in tournaments.

Factions
Factions represent a persistent, large-scale PvP conflict involving four distinct groups vying for control over Wayposts and attempting to steal and secure enemy Faction Flags. Guilds align with a Faction, and participating members engage in ongoing warfare across the world map, earning points, prestige, and contributing to their Faction's standing.

This page provides an overview of the various Player versus Player (PvP) events and systems available on UO Outlands. Each system offers unique challenges, objectives, and rewards for participants.

Important Note on Equipment: In structured PvP events (Arena Matches, Town Struggles, Corpse Creek Contests, Dungeon Flashpoints, Stygian Rifts), any Weapons, Spellbooks, or Armor that possess bonuses exceeding those of standard, non-colored Grandmaster (GM) crafted equipment will automatically function as if they were standard, non-colored GM items during combat between participants. This normalization ensures a more level playing field regarding gear advantages.

Please note that for most structured PvP events, players are unable to use Incognito, Polymorph, or Disguise Kits, and any existing effects will be removed upon joining the event.

Script and Macro Restrictions: Please be aware that participation in structured PvP events and Factions activates specific PvP Event Script Restrictions. These limitations affect certain Razor script commands, expressions, macro actions, and UI elements to curb automation.

Follower Restrictions in PvP Zones: In active PvP Event Zones (Town Struggles, Dungeon Flashpoints, Corpse Creek Contest, Stygian Rifts), Faction Castles, or within the boundaries of a Faction Waypost, players face restrictions regarding their followers:

 • Players cannot cast Summoning spells. Any existing Summoned Followers that enter these zones will be automatically unsummoned.
 • Players cannot issue Combat commands (Attack / Guard / Patrol) to any Followers (Tamed or Summoned). Any Followers inside these zones with active combat commands will automatically switch to Follow mode.

Special Spell Handling in Organized PvP: The Meteor Swarm and Chain Lightning spells have adjusted handling when cast in "Organized PvP Situations" (which includes most structured PvP events and Faction areas). This typically involves changes to target selection (avoiding blue players/followers), damage scaling based on the number of targets hit, and potential damage penalties for hitting friendly Faction members. See the individual spell pages for detailed mechanics.
