The Fishing skill allows players to harvest resources from the waters of Outlands, both on land and at sea. Fishing provides access to a variety of materials, including raw fish for cooking, special seafood for crafting, and rare items such as Messages in a Bottle (SOS) and Special Fishing Nets.
Players can engage in two main types of fishing:
- Land Fishing – A slower, passive method that only yields basic fish.
- Ship Fishing – A more rewarding method that requires Captcha verification and offers chances to catch special fish, summon sea creatures, and acquire valuable salvage.
Advanced fishermen can use Fishing Weapons such as harpoons and tridents in combat, benefiting from unique weapon specials that enhance melee capabilities. Additionally, specialized tools like Fishing Poles and Leather Fishing Nets improve catch rates and allow for more efficient gathering.
Fishing also plays a key role in treasure hunting, with SOS messages leading players to valuable underwater loot. Fishing Frenzies and Aquarium Creatures provide further incentives for dedicated fishers to explore the open waters in search of rare finds.
- Players can use a bladed weapon to cut Raw Fish into Fish Steaks.
- Fishermen can wield Fishing Weapons, which are player-crafted and rely on the Fishing skill.
Fishing Weapon Special
Fishing Weapons have a unique weapon special ability with the following effects:
- Damage is increased by 100%.
- Impales target, inflicting an additional 60% of damage to a random target within 2 tiles.
- Damage is increased by 30% if no additional targets exist within 2 tiles.
Fishing Weapons
Players can use Ocean Weapons such as Harpoons and Tridents while on land, but with the following adjustments:
- Against creatures and players, Ocean Weapons will adopt the Swing Speed and Range of Heavy Crossbows.
- Damage will be similar to Heavy Crossbows, though slightly lower.
- Ocean Weapons will continue to use their normal Weapon Specials, Codex Stances, Codex Finishers, and Weapon Abilities, unless otherwise indicated.
- Bonuses, abilities, or effects related to ships or crewmembers will not activate on land.
