Summary
- Necromancy on Outlands features 10 Necromancy Abilities inspired by classic Necromancy spells, rebalanced for mage characters in PvM.
- Players with the Necromancy skill accumulate Unholy Symbols, a virtual resource used to activate Necromancy abilities.
- Players earn 1 Unholy Symbol every 5 seconds and can bank up to:
(Effective Necromancy Skill / 10)(rounded down).
- Each ability has an Unholy Symbol Cost (ranging from 1 to 5).
- Necromancy Abilities do NOT cost mana and are NOT affected by Fame/Karma.
- Activation:
- Instant, cannot be interrupted, and does not require empty hands.
- Each ability has a 30-second cooldown before it can be used again.
- Some abilities can be used while hidden, but will not display effects while hidden.
Acquiring and Increasing Necromancy Skill
While players do not have to unlock Necromancy Abilities, they do however need to acquire a Book of Necromancy in order to use them.
Players can acquire Books of Necromancy in various ways:
- Players who select the Necromancy skill on Character Creation will start with a Book of Necromancy in their backpack
- From Necromancer NPCs by spending 5,000 Gold or sacrificing 25,000 Fame
- Players can speak to Necromancer NPCs in various towns by saying "Necromancer", "Necromancy", or "Book" out loud near them
- Players can Train up to 50 Necromancy skill at a Necromancer NPC in the normal method of training any skill from an NPC
- Players who have a Book of Necromancy in their backpack will automatically gain Necromancy skill while making Spell attacks, similar to gaining Magery skill
- Players can reach 101-120 Necromancy skill through use of Skill Scrolls
- Epic Skill Scrolls increase the Skill Cap of the Necromancy skill
- Necromancy requires Magery skill: A player's Effective Necromancy skill is capped by their Magery skill as long as the latter is no larger than 100 (the Effective Necromancy skill go above 100 freely if the player has 100 Magery)
Necromancy Menu
- Players with a Book of Necromancy can access the Necromancy Menu by:

Necromancy Hotbar

- Clicking "Open Hotbar" in the Necromancy Menu.
- Typing [NecromancyHotbar.
Ability Button Colors
- Yellow: Enough Unholy Symbols available.
- Light Grey: Not enough Unholy Symbols.
- Dark Grey: Ability on cooldown.
- Red: Player does not meet the skill requirement.
Additional Hotbar Features
- Layout Switching:
- Clicking the Orb Button changes between vertical/horizontal, single/double rows, and minimalist mode.
- Ability Auto-Renew:
- If enabled, abilities automatically activate when possible.
- Multiple abilities prioritize cheaper ones first.
- Auto-renew stops if the player is out of combat for 30 seconds.
Saving the Hotbar on Logout
Players can save the hotbar position using:

To automatically restore the hotbar on login:
- Open Options Gump.
- Open Hotbar.
- Hold Ctrl + Alt and click the Symbol Icon.
- Name the gump entry.
- Check "Remember across client restarts".
- Click "Remember UI Window Positions".
Necromancy Commands
Players can access Necromancy abilities using:

Necromancy in PvP
- Necromancy abilities do NOT work in PvP.
- Some abilities can be activated, but effects will not apply while flagged in PvP.
- Instead, players gain a flat PvP Spell Damage Bonus:

- Summoned followers follow Spirit Speak handling in PvP.
- Unholy Symbols still accumulate while in PvP.

Undead Summons
- When the "Vengeful Spirit" ability is active, summons will appear as undead variants.
- Undead Summons:
* No time limit but slowly decay over time. * Stronger than regular summons but require more frequent re-summoning. * Affected by Spirit Speak, increasing Stats, Skills, and Dispel Resistance. * Do NOT inherit spell hues and retain their original hue.
Summon Creature/Raise Dead
When Summon Creature is cast with Vengeful Spirit active, the spell will summon a random undead creature.

Effective Necromancy Skill
- Each ability has a minimum skill requirement.
- A player's Effective Necromancy Skill is capped by Magery.
* Example: 80 Necromancy + 60 Magery → Effective Necromancy = 60. * At 100 Magery, Necromancy can increase above 100 (via Skill Scrolls).
- Necromancy power scales with Effective Skill but bonuses do NOT count toward activation requirements.
- The maximum number of Unholy Symbols banked is:
* (Effective Necromancy Skill / 10)
(rounded down).
Summoner's Tome
- Requires 80 Spirit Speaking and 80 Magery.
- Undead summons receive the same upgrades as standard summons.
Training
A Book of Necromancy is required to train Necromancy.
