Corrupted Mastery Chain Links are a new type of Mastery Chain Link that players can find as loot in certain systems, including Trade Caravans, Contested Bosses, and the Omni Bosses. These links offer slightly more powerful bonuses than Gold links but come with a significant drawback—they have a limited lifespan of 90 days from the time of activation. Players can install Corrupted Links alongside Bronze, Silver, and Gold Links of the same Bonus Type within a Mastery Chain.
Corrupted Link Reforging Tools
Players have the ability to change the bonus type of a Corrupted Mastery Chain Link using a Corrupted Link Reforging Tool, which can be crafted through the Tinkering skill. To reforge a Corrupted Link, a player must double-click the tool and target the link, which will bring up a menu displaying all possible link types and their associated bonuses. Clicking the Reforge Link button twice will permanently convert the link to the selected type.
Link Expiration
Unlike other links, Corrupted Links no longer degrade as a player inflicts damage. Instead, once a Corrupted Link is installed into a Mastery Chain, it is considered "Activated" and will expire in 90 days. Players can view the remaining time until expiration by navigating to the link in the Mastery Chain Menu.
Activated Corrupted Links can be removed and reinstalled into a different Mastery Chain, but they will still expire 90 days from their initial activation. Players cannot store Activated Corrupted Links in a Mastery Chain Link Tome.
Once a Corrupted Link reaches its expiration, a large "X" will appear over it in the Mastery Chain Menu, and it will display "Link Expired." Expired Corrupted Links no longer provide any bonus to the player and should be removed.
When a player removes an expired Corrupted Link from the Mastery Chain Menu, it will automatically decay and be deleted, accompanied by a sound and a notification.
