Summary
The Item Identification skill is used to:
- Identify an unidentified magical item. Item properties can be found on the Modifiers page.
- Decipher Research Materials.
- Increase bonuses derived from magical properties on weapons, armor, shields, spellbooks, and instruments used in PvM.
High-Level Item Identification
Players receive the following bonuses when using Item Identification at higher skill levels:
Skill | Ability |

105 | Displays the item's NPC vendor sale price (if applicable). |
110 | Displays the item's Arcane Essence recycle amount (if applicable). |
120 | Can be used on a container to identify all items within it. Also lists the total NPC vendor and Arcane Essence value of all contained items. |
PvP Bonuses
Item Identification provides supplemental melee and spell damage bonuses in PvP:
- Melee Damage Bonus:
(10% * (Item ID Skill / 100))
while flagged in PvP. - Spell Damage Bonus:
(10% * (Item ID Skill / 100))
while flagged in PvP.
Magical Item Property Bonuses
Bonuses from Item Identification apply only in PvM.

Example Calculation
A player with 80 Item Identification skill is using an Eminently Accurate, Vanquishing, Greater Undead Slaying Heavy Crossbow against an Undead creature.
Base weapon properties:
- Eminently Accurate: +15% Accuracy.
- Vanquishing: +25% Damage.
- Greater Slaying: +45% Damage (when matched to slayer type).
Item Identification bonuses at 80 skill:
- Accuracy Bonus:
(15% * (50% * (80 / 100))) = +6%
. - Vanquishing Bonus:
(25% * (100% * (80 / 100))) = +20%
. - Greater Slaying Bonus:
(45% * (50% * (80 / 100))) = +18%

Total modified weapon stats:
- Accuracy Bonus:
15% + 6% = +21%
. - Damage Bonus:
25% + 45% + 20% + 18% = +108%
.
Slayer Wands
- Slayer Wands are no longer usable by players.
- Slayer Wands will no longer drop as loot.
- Players can exchange wands at the Prevalia Exchange Officer for randomized Arcane Runes.
