Summary

  • Necromancy on Outlands features 10 Necromancy Abilities inspired by classic Necromancy spells, rebalanced for mage characters in PvM.
  • Players with the Necromancy skill accumulate Unholy Symbols, a virtual resource used to activate Necromancy abilities.
  • Players earn 1 Unholy Symbol every 5 seconds and can bank up to:
 * (Effective Necromancy Skill / 10) (rounded down).
  • Each ability has an Unholy Symbol Cost (ranging from 1 to 5).
  • Necromancy Abilities do NOT cost mana and are NOT affected by Fame/Karma.
  • Activation:
 * Instant, cannot be interrupted, and does not require empty hands.
 * Each ability has a 30-second cooldown before it can be used again.
 * Some abilities can be used while hidden, but will not display effects while hidden.

Acquiring and Increasing Necromancy Skill

Players must obtain a Book of Necromancy to use Necromancy abilities.

How to Obtain a Book of Necromancy

  • Character Creation: If Necromancy is selected, the player starts with the book.
  • Necromancer NPCs: Purchase for 5,000 Gold or sacrifice 25,000 Fame.
 * Speak near them using: "Necromancer", "Necromancy", or "Book".
  • Training from NPCs: Players can train up to 50 Necromancy from an NPC.
  • Skill Gain: Players gain Necromancy passively while casting spells (similar to Magery).
  • Above 100 Skill: Use Skill Scrolls to reach 101-120 Necromancy.
  • Necromancy requires Magery:
 * A player’s Effective Necromancy Skill is capped by Magery until 100 Magery.
 * Once 100 Magery is reached, Necromancy can go up to 120 freely.

Necromancy Menu

  • Players with a Book of Necromancy can access the Necromancy Menu by:
 * Double-clicking the book or typing `[Necromancy]`.
  • The menu displays:
 * Unholy Symbols count (current/max).
 * List of Necromancy abilities, including costs and skill requirements.
 * "Activate Ability" button to use abilities (if requirements are met).

Necromancy Hotbar

  • Players can open the Necromancy Hotbar by:
 * Clicking "Open Hotbar" in the Necromancy Menu.
 * Typing [NecromancyHotbar].

Ability Button Colors

  • Yellow: Enough Unholy Symbols available.
  • Light Grey: Not enough Unholy Symbols.
  • Dark Grey: Ability on cooldown.
  • Red: Player does not meet the skill requirement.

Additional Hotbar Features

  • Layout Switching:
 * Clicking the Orb Button changes between vertical/horizontal, single/double rows, and minimalist mode.
  • Ability Auto-Renew:
 * If enabled, abilities automatically activate when possible.
 * Multiple abilities prioritize cheaper ones first.
 * Auto-renew stops if the player is out of combat for 30 seconds.

Saving the Hotbar on Logout

Players can save the hotbar position using: -savenecrobar

To automatically restore the hotbar on login: 1. Open Options Gump. 2. Open Hotbar. 3. Hold Ctrl + Alt and click the Symbol Icon. 4. Name the gump entry. 5. Check "Remember across client restarts". 6. Click "Remember UI Window Positions".

Necromancy Commands

Players can access Necromancy abilities using:

  • [Necromancy1], [Necromancy2], [Necromancy3], etc. (corresponds to Hotbar positions).
  • Specific commands like [EvilOmen] or [RaiseDead].
  • Full list available at Necromancy Commands.

Necromancy in PvP

  • Necromancy abilities do NOT work in PvP.
  • Some abilities can be activated, but effects will not apply while flagged in PvP.
  • Instead, players gain a flat PvP Spell Damage Bonus:
 * (10% * (Necromancy Skill / 100)) (similar to Camping, Forensics, Tracking, etc.).
  • Summoned followers follow Spirit Speak handling in PvP.
  • Unholy Symbols still accumulate while in PvP.
  • The Wither and Vampiric Embrace abilities CANNOT be activated in PvP.

Necromancy Ability Descriptions

The table below outlines each Necromancy Ability, including:

  • Name
  • Unholy Symbol Cost
  • Minimum Skill Requirement
  • Ability Icon
  • Effect Description
Name Unholy Symbol Min. Skill Description

Vengeful Spirit
1 50 For next 30 seconds all summon spells cast will instead create an Undead follower that loses 1% health & max health every 10 seconds but has damage increased by (20% * (Necromancy / 100))

Poison Strike
1 55 Target a creature that you have applied Spell Poison or Disease onto to resolve up to 3 Poison ticks and up to 8 Disease ticks remaining at (100% * (Necromancy / 100)) normal damage. The number of ticks resolved is capped by (Poison Ticks Already Resolved + 1)
Poison Strike will now consider all ticks resolved from weaker/previous Poison effects a player has already resolved on a creature
Poison Aspect Armor's "Chance for Extra Poison Tick" will boost the total number of Poison Ticks resolved with Poison Strike (to a maximum of 5) provided the player has already resolved that total number of ticks on the creature

Evil Omen
2 60 For next 30 seconds Spell Damage is increased by (20% * (Necromancy / 100)) but spells have a 25% chance to inflict (ManaCost / 2) damage on the player

Corpse Skin
2 65 For next 30 seconds any damaging spell will apply a Disease effect dealing damage of (25% * (Necromancy / 100)) over 30 seconds

Vampiric Embrace
3 70 Target a nearby corpse to heal player's Undead followers for (15% * (Necromancy / 100)) of their Maximum Health
(You can target an enemy or yourself and it will automatically search the surrounding area for a corpse to trigger the ability)

Mind Rot
3 75 For next 30 seconds any new Poison Spell or spell-based Disease effects will inflict (20% * (Necromancy / 100)) more damage

Blood Oath
4 80 Player takes 5 damage and for next 30 seconds increases damage their Undead followers inflict by (30% * (Necromancy / 100))

Strangle
4 85 For next 30 seconds Spell Damage you inflict will be delayed by 5 seconds but will be increased by (30% * (Necromancy / 100)) damage

Wither
5 90 Player takes 10 damage and for next 30 seconds gains (30 * (Necromancy / 100)) mana that can only be spent on non-damage causing spells
(When a spell consumes mana from the Wither mana pool, it will have its chance to proc mana-based trigger effects (such Aspect Spellbook Special Effects) reduced to only the percentage of "real" mana used)

Pain Spike
5 95 Target a nearby corpse to inflict (800 * (Necromancy / 100)) damage divided between 4 creatures within 4 tiles with damage max of (600 * (Necromancy / 100)) per target
(You can target an enemy directly and it will automatically search the surrounding area for a corpse to trigger the ability). The amount of damage inflicted on a creature is capped by the total damage previously inflicted on that creature by that player, with a minimum of 100 damage
If there are multiple valid creatures in range of a corpse, the ability will select the creatures the player has damaged the most so far

Undead Summons

  • When the "Vengeful Spirit" ability is active, summons will appear as undead variants.
  • Undead Summons:
 * No time limit but slowly decay over time.
 * Stronger than regular summons but require more frequent re-summoning.
 * Affected by Spirit Speak, increasing Stats, Skills, and Dispel Resistance.
 * Do NOT inherit spell hues and retain their original hue.

Summon Creature/Raise Dead

When Summon Creature is cast with Vengeful Spirit active, the spell will summon a random undead creature.

Effective Necromancy Skill

  • Each ability has a minimum skill requirement.
  • A player's Effective Necromancy Skill is capped by Magery.
 * Example: 80 Necromancy + 60 MageryEffective Necromancy = 60.
 * At 100 Magery, Necromancy can increase above 100 (via Skill Scrolls).
  • Necromancy power scales with Effective Skill but bonuses do NOT count toward activation requirements.
  • The maximum number of Unholy Symbols banked is:
 * (Effective Necromancy Skill / 10) (rounded down).

Summoner's Tome

  • Requires 80 Spirit Speaking and 80 Magery.
  • Undead summons receive the same upgrades as standard summons.
