Shelter Island Window
When players log in with a new character, they will immediately receive a Shelter Island Window that presents them with three options:
- View Information about Shelter Island and Young Player status. Clicking the "View" button allows players to read multiple pages explaining how Young Status works and the rules of Shelter Island. Players can navigate back to the main menu using the "Back" button.
- Stay on Shelter Island and keep Young Player status. Clicking the "Stay" button allows players to remain on Shelter Island with their Young Player status intact.
- Renounce Young Player status and Travel to Prevalia. Clicking the "Travel" button immediately teleports the player (along with their nearby pets) to Prevalia, permanently removing their Young Player status.
If a player closes the window without selecting "Stay" or "Travel," the window will reappear the next time they log in until they make a choice.
Shelter Island and the New Player Dungeon
- Shelter Island and the New Player Dungeon are aggression-free zones, meaning players cannot perform hostile actions against each other.
- Players cannot increase any skill beyond 80 while on Shelter Island, including inside the New Player Dungeon.
- Non-Young players cannot access the Bank or purchase items from Vendors on Shelter Island.
- Players can only gather and harvest resources on Shelter Island if they have Young Player status, except for skinning.
- The chances of successfully harvesting resources are reduced by 50%. For example, a 22% mining success rate becomes 11%.
- The amount of resources obtained from skinning/carving corpses is also reduced by 50%.
- The Active Skill Gain Boost is permanently enabled inside the New Player Dungeon.
- This does not include crafting or gathering skills such as Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Mining, Lumberjacking, or Fishing.
- Gold amounts on creatures inside the New Player Dungeon are reduced by 50%.
- The chance of finding special items such as Treasure Maps or Arcane Scrolls is also reduced by 50%.
- Creatures in the New Player Dungeon will not drop Rare items.
Losing Young Player Status
Players will lose Young Player status if any of the following occurs:
- They leave Shelter Island.
- They spend more than 8 hours in-game.
- They manually Renounce their Young Player status.
If a Young Player attempts to use a player-made moongate, public moongate, cast Recall, use a teleporter, or board a boat, they will receive a prompt asking them to renounce their Young Player status before proceeding. If they decline, they will not be able to travel.
Once a player loses their Young Player status, all Newbied items in their backpack, bank box, or equipped on their character will permanently lose their Newbied status. If a Non-Young player picks up a Newbied item, it will also lose its Newbied status.

Formation
Nestled in Reaver Bay, between the Aegean Peninsula and Cambria, lies Shelter Island. The island was created during the reign of Mad Emperor Linus, who ruled as the last sovereign of the united Prevalian Empire from 469AC to 490AC. Unprepared for and unsuited to leadership, Linus issued many bizarre edicts—one of which was the creation of a designated "shelter" island to house the sick and infirm, whom he blamed for the slow disintegration of his empire.
Prevalian engineers and mages constructed the artificial island in the shallow waters of Reaver Bay. As soon as construction was complete, Linus began forcibly deporting "undesirables" from the streets of Prevalia, Andaria, and Cambria. However, in his haste, Linus provided no facilities or resources for these outcasts. The first inhabitants of Shelter Island were left to fend for themselves, resulting in chaos and bloodshed as they struggled to survive. Legends claim that the ghosts of these desperate souls still haunt the caves beneath the town.
Today, Shelter Island—and the town built upon it by Linus's successors—serve as a neutral sanctuary, untouched by the wars that have ravaged the cities of the mainland.
