Swordsmanship allows players to wield bladed weapons, offering a balance between the faster attack speeds of Fencing and the slower but heavier-hitting weapons of Macing.
Mechanics
All one-handed swords can be poisoned using the Poisoning skill, whereas axes and two-handed swords cannot be poisoned.
The chance to hit with a sword-class weapon is calculated as:
(Player's Swordsmanship skill + 50) / ((Defender's Weapon or Wrestling skill + 50) * 2)
This hit chance is further modified by any relevant accuracy bonuses.
Swordsmanship also provides secondary damage bonuses:
- In PvM, it increases Base Weapon Damage by
(25% * Skill / 100)
when used as a secondary weapon skill. - In PvP, it increases Base Weapon Damage by
(10% * Skill / 100)
when used as a secondary weapon skill.
Swordsmanship Special Attack in PvM
Swordsmanship grants a special attack effect when fighting creatures. Players have a 10% base chance to trigger a Swords Weapon Special Attack, which can be further increased through:
These attacks apply a stackable Lacerate & Bleed Effect to the target.
Lacerate Effect
Lacerate increases the chance for the player and allies to apply weapon special effects to the target. Each hit applies a stackable 8% Lacerate Effect that lasts between 8-16 seconds (scaled by weapon speed), up to a maximum of 24%.
Bleed Effect
The Bleed effect causes the target to suffer damage over time, calculated as:
150% of Damage From Hit
Bleed damage is applied over 15 seconds, with damage ticks occurring every 3 seconds. Each tick inflicts 20% of the total Bleed damage, ensuring the full effect plays out over time.
