Summary
The Discordance skill greatly reduces the stats of the targeted creature. Players can Discord multiple creatures simultaneously. The skill has a **5-second cooldown** on both success and failure, but a player may only use Discordance **once every 10 seconds**. This means a player can alternate between **Discordance** and **Peacemaking** every 5 seconds.
The Bard Codex significantly enhances the effectiveness of the Discordance skill.
Mechanics
- A player's **base Discordance skill** is capped by their **Musicianship skill**.
 
(For example, a player with 50 Discordance and 25 Musicianship is considered to have 25 Discordance.)
- A player's **Effective Discordance Skill** is calculated as:
 
 (Discordance Skill + Instrument Skill Bonuses + Applicable Instrument Slayer Bonuses + Supplemental Skill Bonuses + Lyric Aspect Armor Bonus)  
- Players can increase their **Effective Discordance Skill** through the **Forensic Evaluation** and **Tracking** skills, categorized under **Supplemental Skill Bonuses**.
 - The total bonus to **Effective Discordance** from Instruments, Supplemental Skills, or Lyric Aspect Armor **cannot exceed the player's Musicianship skill**.
 
(For example, a player with **25 Musicianship** can only gain up to **25 points** of Effective Discordance from these sources.)
- **Chance for skill gain is doubled on a successful Discordance check.**
 - **Discord effect duration** is calculated as:
 
((60 seconds - (Creature Difficulty Value)) * (Effective Barding Skill / 100))with a minimum duration of15 * (Musicianship Skill / 100)seconds.
- **Bonus for Bard Synergy** – A player attempting to use Discordance on a creature that is already **Provoked or Pacified** gains an **Effective Barding Skill bonus of +25** on the Discordance attempt.
 - The **Minimum Success Chance** for any Barding action is:

Effects on Discorded Creatures
- Discorded creatures take **25% increased damage** from all sources.

- Discorded creatures suffer a **25% penalty to their damage output**.
 - The effectiveness of Discordance on creatures scales as:
 
 (Bard's Printed Discordance Skill / 120) % of normal.  
- Creatures that are **both Discorded and either Pacified or Provoked** take an additional **15% increased damage** from all sources.
 - Discorded creatures will display a **swirling animation** and a **"*discorded Xs*"** message above their name, where X represents the remaining duration of the Discordance effect.
 
Area Discordance
Players can perform an **Area Discordance effect** by targeting themselves when using Discordance.
- **AoE Discordance has the same cooldowns** as normal Discordance actions.
 - The effect applies an **individual Discordance skill check** to all **non-tamed creatures within 8 tiles** of the bard.
 - Each successful check **Discords the affected creature for 5 seconds**.
 - **Players cannot use AoE Discordance or AoE Peacemaking in guarded areas.**
 
Additional Notes
- **Against Tamed Creatures** – Discordance effects on tamed creatures **last a maximum of 15 seconds**.
 - **Provoked creatures do not suffer a damage penalty from Discordance.**
 - **Provoked or Pacified creatures that are also Discorded take an additional 15% damage from all sources**
