Mastery Chain

The Mastery Chain system is an end-game PvM system that provides players with various options to further progress their characters. Mastery Chains are Blessed wearable items that occupy the Talisman slot on a character. To bless or bind them to a character, the item must be equipped at least once.

Players can craft Mastery Chains with 120 Tinkering and can add links to their chain that provide PvM bonuses once they have gained the required experience points (XP) to unlock a link slot. While a Mastery Chain is not required to begin accumulating XP, it is necessary to equip one to view the XP that has been accumulated.

Players can view their Mastery Chain’s gump by using the [MasteryChain command, by double-clicking their Mastery Chain, or by selecting the "Mastery Chain" option in their character’s context menu. Mastery Chain XP is shared across all characters on a player's account, but each character must have their own Mastery Chain to receive any benefits.

Similarly to Aspect Gear, Mastery Chains do not provide any bonuses to players who are currently in PvP or have engaged in combat with another player within the last 30 seconds. Additionally, players can only change their Mastery Chain once every 30 seconds. While players are not prevented from equipping a new Mastery Chain, its bonuses will not activate until the cooldown period has elapsed.

The visual style of a Mastery Chain does not affect its mechanics—only its appearance. There are eleven craftable visual styles for Mastery Chains:

Using Mastery Chains

To receive bonuses from a Mastery Chain, it must be permanently bound to a character. Players can have multiple Mastery Chains bound to themselves. While a Mastery Chain must be equipped at least once to become active, players can keep it in their backpack after activation, as it occupies the Talisman slot.

Single-clicking a bound Mastery Chain will display the name of the character it is bound to. Players can also single-click their Mastery Chains to see how long until their bonuses will activate after switching chains. While players are free to equip Mastery Chains as often as they like, newly equipped chains will not provide bonuses for 30 seconds.

Players can only remove Mastery Chain Links from a chain they own, as Mastery Chains are permanently bound to their owners.

The Mastery Chain menu includes an "Install All Links in Backpack" button, which allows players to automatically install all valid links from their inventory. Installation follows the same rules as normal link installation, including caps on duplicate effects, restrictions on Corrupted Links, and Arcane Essence install costs.

Acquiring Mastery Chain Links

Players can acquire Mastery Chain Links through various methods, including:

Gaining Experience

Experience Formula

When killing a creature, each player typically earns Experience towards various systems by calculating their Damage Dealt % to the Creature and multiplying it by the Gold Value of the creature

So a player who deals 33% of the total damage on a creature worth 1000 gold, would earn 333 Experience towards systems like Mastery Chains, Weapon Codexes, Wizard's Grimoires, etc

Experience Adjustments

Players will now receive an Experience Adjustment when killing creatures when multiple players damage the creature

For each valid player that inflicts 5% Damage or more to the creature, all players will have their "Effective" Damage Dealt % scaled upwards by (+25% * Valid Players) for the purposes of calculating Experience Gains

Players cannot have their Effective Damage Dealt % increased from this mechanic above 15% for Bosses or above 66% for Normal Creatures

Any Experience Adjustments players receive will not affect the numbers shown for [BossResults or [ServerRank calculations: these adjustments are only considered for Experience Gains for systems

Example: 4 players kill a creature worth 1000 gold

  • Player A dealt 20% damage to the creature
  • Player B dealt 30% damage to the creature
  • Player C dealt 49% damage to the creature
  • Player D dealt 1% damage to the creature

Since three players dealt at least 5% damage or more to the creature, all players will have their "Effective" damage dealt scaled up by (25% * 3) = +75%

  • Player A will now be treated as (20% * 1.75) = 35% Damage Dealt
  • Player B will now be treated as (30% * 1.75) = 52.5% Damage Dealt
  • Player C will now be treated as (49% * 1.75) = 66% Damage Dealt (would be 85.75% but 66% is the max cap for bonuses)
  • Player D will now be treated as (1% * 1.75) = 1.75% Damage Dealt

Player B would normally have earned (30% * 1000) = 300 Experience, but instead now earns (52.5% * 1000) = 525 Experience because of adjustments.

Upgrading Mastery Chains

Mastery Chains do not provide benefits until Mastery Chain Links are installed. Players can install up to 30 links, but must first unlock link slots by earning XP.

  • Players earn XP by engaging in activities that generate gold (killing monsters, unlocking dungeon chests, etc.).
  • Unlocking a new link slot triggers a notification.
  • Unlocked links appear green in the chain interface.
  • Installing a link consumes 10 Arcane Essence.

Mastery Chain Link Types

Mastery Chain Links are rare loot items obtainable through select mechanics such as Omni Bosses and Treasure Hunting, or by spending a significant amount of reward points.

There are four material types for Mastery Chain Links:

  • Bronze
  • Silver (25% better than Bronze)
  • Gold (50% better than Bronze)
  • Corrupted (10% better than Gold)

Each link provides a unique bonus that scales with material quality.

Mastery Chain Link Bonus Values

Current values for potential Mastery Chain Links are listed below:

  • Note that "Effective" skill gain bonus for Mastery Chain Links only boosts the bonuses you get from those skills in combat
  • It does not increase your skill value for crafting
  • Elective Upgrades means that you can convert the link on the left, to the one in the Elective Upgrades column by double clicking on the link. This cannot be reversed without using a reforging tool.

  • Damage to Poisoned Creatures links will only apply if the target is affected with Greater Poison or above

Installing & Removing Mastery Chain Links

Players can install up to 10 links of the same bonus effect (except for Special Drop Chances, which allows up to 20).

Players can remove links via the Mastery Chain menu. Removing a link does not refund Arcane Essence, but the removed link is returned to the player’s backpack.

Mastery Chain Link Reforging

Players can use Reforging Tools (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Corrupted) to modify the effect of a Mastery Chain Link.

  • Players must use a Reforging Tool of the same material type as the link.
  • Reforging allows selecting a new bonus type from a list.
  • Tools are purchasable with reward points or gold at the Prevalia Market.

Mastery Chain Link Tome

Players can purchase a Mastery Chain Link Tome from the Prevalia Market Merchant to store and organize their collected Mastery Chain Links.
