The Arcane Staff is a new class of weapon designed to support "pure mage" builds. To effectively use Arcane Staves, players need both the Arcane skill and the Wrestling skill. There are 20 different Arcane Staff types available: Abyssal, Ancestral, Angelspire, Boneshard, Burial, Celestial, Chaos, Darklight, Dragonbone, Druid, Fiendish, Helix, Nautilus, Necromancer, Paradox, Prismatic, Razorcrest, Shaman, Summoner, and Vine.
Although all Arcane Staff types share identical stats, each type features a unique projectile hue, allowing players to select a staff that matches their character’s theme and personality.

Crafting
Arcane Staves can be crafted using the Carpentry skill under the Arcane Staves category. These weapons follow the same crafting rules as normal weapons and can be of Exceptional Quality, Mastercrafted, and made using Colored Materials such as Avarwood.
Skills for Arcane Staves
Arcane Staves are two-handed equippable weapons. A player’s chance to hit or defend with an Arcane Staff is determined by their Arcane skill, but the effectiveness is capped by their Wrestling skill. To maximize performance, players must train both Arcane and Wrestling.
Combat Mechanics
Arcane Staves function as normal weapons for melee attacks and benefit from all standard bonuses, including Magical/Crafted properties, Aspect Bonuses, Mastery Chains, Skill Bonuses, and Slayer Damage. These staves also act as ranged weapons with a range of 12 tiles. Unlike bows or other ranged weapons, Arcane Staves do not require ammunition. Instead of being reduced by armor, Arcane Staff damage is mitigated by the target's Effective Magic Resist.
Arcane Weapon Special: Hex
Arcane Staves have a unique weapon special ability called Hex. When activated, this ability increases damage by 50%. Additionally, it applies a debuff to the target, reducing its Magic Resist by 50 for 8-15 seconds, with the duration scaled by weapon speed. If the target already has 0 Magic Resist, the Hex attack will deal an additional 50% damage.
Arcane Buildup
Players using Arcane Staves generate an Arcane Buildup effect when engaging in combat. Each successful hit with an Arcane Staff increases a player’s Arcane Buildup by 20% * (Arcane Skill / 100). This buildup can reach a maximum of 100%, and an overhead meter will display the player's current Arcane Buildup whenever it changes. This meter is visible only to the player.
Arcane Buildup Bonuses
Players gain two primary benefits from Arcane Buildup:
- Spell Damage Bonus against creatures equal to (Arcane Buildup * 40%).
- Damage Resistance Bonus against creatures equal to (Arcane Buildup * 15%).
Example:
- A player has inflicted 4 hits recently with an Arcane Staff and has generated an Arcane Buildup of 80%
- The player's Spell Damage against all creatures will be increased by (80% * 40%) = +32%
- The player will also have a Damage Resistance bonus against all creatures of (80% * 15%) = +12%
Buildup Restrictions
Arcane Buildup only applies while a player is equipped with an Arcane Staff. Players must maintain concentration and cannot have any Followers (excluding mounts) or perform Barding actions. Having a follower or using a Barding skill resets Arcane Buildup to 0%.
Buildup Decay
Arcane Buildup decays by 20% every 10 seconds if the player does not land a successful Arcane Staff hit, down to a minimum of 0%.
Casting While Equipped
Players can cast spells while wielding an Arcane Staff if they have at least 80 Arcane skill and 80 Wrestling skill.
Attacking While Casting
Players can continue attacking with an Arcane Staff while casting or holding a spell.
Arcane Staves in PvP
Arcane Staff hits do not cause spell interruptions when striking other players.
There is a length of time that a player must remain on the same time before an Arcane Staff will fire in PvP, this is called the Stationary Delay.
The Stationary Delay for Arcane Staves scaled based on the player's Dexterity between:
- 1.0 seconds at 25 Dexterity or lower
- 0.5 seconds at 100 Dexterity or higher
Examples:
A player with 25 Dex must remain stationary for 1.0 seconds before they may fire an Arcane Weapon
A player with 63 Dex must remain stationary for 0.75 seconds before they may fire an Arcane Weapon
A player with 100 Dex must remain stationary for 0.5 seconds before they may fire an Arcane Weapon
Spell Interruption While Casting
A player’s Effective Arcane Skill determines their chance to avoid spell interruptions from environmental damage while casting. PvP interruptions are resolved using the player's Wrestling skill.
