Outlands Patch August 14, 2023 is an update for Outlands.

This patch adds visual/sound effects for Harvest Aspect, adjusts Faction Waypost capture times, allows PvP in Omni Lairs, fixes a Murderer defense issue, updates the Wizard's Grimoire Bless description, increases Musicianship skill gain, reduces Ship Upgrade/Crewmember drops from MIBs, and introduces a major Taming Overhaul.

Harvest Aspect

  • Anytime a player receives double Loot/Harvest items while wearing Harvest Aspect Armor, it will now play a visual and sound effect for the player (unless Hidden).

Factions

Wayposts

Omni Boss Lairs

  • Player Factions will now be ignored within Omni Boss Lairs; players may attack opposing Factions while inside.

Murderers

  • Fixed issue where Murderers in Factions attacked by their own faction members (due to Criminal actions) couldn't defend themselves.

Wizard's Grimoire

  • The Wizard's Grimoire Bless upgrade description updated: "Will also apply the Bless spell to up to (2, 4, 6) other friendly targets within 6 tiles of target (will prioritize player's controlled creatures first)".

Musicianship

  • Significantly increased the rate of Skill Gain for the Musicianship skill.

Taming Overhaul

Nearly every Tamed Creature in Outlands has had its Stats and Skills updated, influenced by Taming Bestiary Changes, Underdog Bonus overhaul, Ability Updates, Creature Roles, etc.

Tamed Stats and Skills

  • Tamed Creatures now automatically receive scalar bonuses to Stats and Skills at each level (up to Level 10).
  • Players no longer manually select Stat/Skill increases (or Traits). Experience gain towards next level is automatic.
  • Bonuses per Level:
    • +10% Hit Points (max +100%)
    • +2.5% Attack Speed (max +25%)
    • +5.0% Damage (max +50%)
    • +5.0% Wrestling Skill (max +50%)
    • +2.5 Armor Rating (max +25)
    • +5.0 Magic Resist (max +50)
    • +2.5% Poisoning Skill (max +25%)

Charged Spells

  • Removed Charged Spell stat for Tamed/Summoned Followers. They no longer cast Charged Spells.
  • Summoner's Tome "Unstable Sorcery" description updated: "50% Chance to increase Spell Damage by 50%".

Melee and Spellcasting

  • Followers are now exclusively Melee OR Spellcasting (no hybrids).
  • "Damage" stat labeled as "Melee Damage" or "Spell Damage" on Animal Lore page.
  • Previous hybrid creatures (Eldritch Drake/Dragon, Summoned Daemon/Vampire/Water Elemental/Rag Witch) are now Spellcasting-only.

Traits and Trait Groups

  • Traits no longer received on level up; Trait Groups removed. Replaced by #Taming Bestiary Upgrades.

Tamed Abilities

  • Animal Lore "Abilities" menu now displays Ability Type (Passive, Cooldown, Innate).
  • Some creatures may have "Innate" abilities (always active).
  • Some former Traits converted to Innate abilities (e.g., "Mule").
  • Some former Traits merged into existing Abilities (e.g., "Clinch" into "Crush").

Tamed Classes

All Tameable creatures categorized into one of three Classes, determining applicable Taming Bestiary bonuses:

  • Attack Class: Focus on dealing Damage.
  • Utility Class: Use Poison, Disease, or Debuffs.
  • Tank Class: Focus on Survival and maintaining Aggro.

Animal Lore Details Page

  • Creature's Class listed in upper left of Details page (formerly "Upgrades").

Taming Bestiary

  • Overhauled functionality, similar to Codexes.
  • Separate upgrade sets for each Class (Attack, Utility, Tank), only applying to creatures of that Class under the tamer's control.

Earning Experience

  • Earn Experience by killing creatures while using Tamed Creatures.
  • Any Tamed Creature type contributes.
  • Experience gain scaled by total Control Slots used (maximize gain by using all 5 slots).

Upgrade Points

  • Reaching Experience thresholds unlocks Upgrade Points usable across all Classes.
  • Maximum 20 Upgrade Points earnable.
  • Each point earned increases the spendable points for EACH Class (Attack, Utility, Tank).
  • Each Class has its own independent pool of points to spend.

Overview Page

  • First page shows Experience progress, total points earned, and points spent per Class.
  • Lists currently controlled Tamed Creatures under their respective Class (green text).
  • Navigation buttons at bottom show creature counts per class under control.

Class Pages

  • Separate page for each Class (Attack, Utility, Tank) with unique Upgrades.
  • Navigate via buttons at the bottom.

Class Upgrades

  • Upgrades only apply to creatures of that Class (few exceptions noted in upgrade descriptions).
  • Each Class uses its own pool of Upgrade Points.
  • 3 Tier Levels per Upgrade.
  • Point Costs per Tier: Tier 1=1pt, Tier 2=2pts, Tier 3=3pts (Total 6 points for Tier 3).
  • Reset Points Spent button available per class (5 min cooldown, free on Test Shard).
  • Info button shows Upgrade description and bonuses per Tier (Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3).

Class Upgrades Effects

  • Bonuses apply only in PvM (never PvP).
  • Apply only to creatures of that Class type by default (exceptions explicitly stated).

When Patch Goes Live

  • Players automatically receive Bestiary Points/Experience scaled from the old system (e.g., old 50% completion = 10/20 points).

Attack Class Upgrades

  • Ambush: + (10%/20%/30%) Dmg / + (5%/10%/15%) DR for 10s after Stealth. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Stealth.
  • Cornered: + (10%/20%/30%) Dmg if took damage from another creature in last 10s. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Feed: If Bleed active on target, (10%/20%/30%) chance on Melee Attack to restore 10% Max HP (max once/15s). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if cannot inflict Bleed.
  • Feral: While Frenzied/Enraged, first non-backstab Melee Attack every 15s: + (80%/160%/240%) Dmg. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Frenzy/Enrage.
  • Hunting Party: + (10%/20%/30%) Dmg if creature AND Tamer within 1 tile of target. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Immolate: Flamestrike/Spellburn ability Dmg + (50%/100%/150%). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Flamestrike/Spellburn.
  • Lethality: (10%/20%/30%) chance on Melee/Spellcast for +100% Dmg, else + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg.
  • Menagerie: + ((2%/4%/6%) * Different Follower Types) Dmg. + ((2%/4%/6%) * Different Follower Types) Healing Amount.
  • Mutation: Cooldown Ability cooldown - (2/4/6) seconds. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Cooldown Ability.
  • Pelt: + (8%/16%/24%) Dmg if target >= 4 tiles away. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if target < 4 tiles away.
  • Primal: Passive Ability trigger chance + (33%/66%/100%) of normal. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Passive Ability.
  • Swarm: + ((2%/4%/6%) * Total Followers) Dmg. + ((2%/4%/6%) * Total Followers) Healing Amount.

Utility Class Upgrades

  • Beast Sting: If any creature has Poison/Disease on target: + (10%/20%/30%) Melee Dmg if this creature can inflict Poison/Disease. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Breaker: Melee/Spellcasts ignore (22%/44%/66%) of target Armor/Magic Resist.
  • Carrion: If Disease active on target, (10%/20%/30%) chance on Melee Attack to restore 12.5% Max HP (max once/15s). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if cannot inflict Disease.
  • Contagion: Disease effect Dmg + (33%/66%/100%). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if cannot inflict Disease.
  • Debilitate: If any creature has Poison/Disease on target: Target gets stackable (1%/2%/3%) Dmg Penalty vs Tamer/Followers per Utility Slot inflicting Poison/Disease. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Frostbite: Chill Ability Dmg + (15%/30%/45%), Chill effect amount + (33%/66%/100%) of normal. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if cannot inflict Chill.
  • Metabolism: Successful Melee restore (0.66%/1.33%/2.0%) Max HP. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if at Max HP.
  • Opportunity: + (20%/40%/60%) Melee/Spell Dmg if applied Entangle/Hinder to target in last 10s. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Punishment: When Pierce/Hex expires: Inflict (DamageMax * (0.5/1.0/1.5)) Armor-Ignored Dmg. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if cannot inflict Pierce/Hex.
  • Scour: If Weaken/Cripple active on target: Tamer gains stackable ((1.5%/3%/4.5%) * Control Slots) Dmg Bonus vs target. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Swoop: Next Melee/Spellcast within 10s after Cooldown Ability: + (66%/133%/200%) Dmg. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg if no Cooldown Ability. (Note: Damage values adjusted from 33/66/100% in Patch 24.01.13)
  • Toxic: If any creature has Poison/Disease on target: Tamer gains stackable (1%/2%/3%) Dmg Bonus vs target per Utility Slot inflicting Poison/Disease. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.

Tank Class Upgrades

  • Adrenaline: (15%/30%/45%) chance on lethal Damage Taken to take 1 Dmg instead + 50% DR for 5s.
  • Aggression: + (5%/10%/15%) Melee Dmg per target within 2 tiles aggroed vs self (max 3). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg otherwise.
  • Behemoth: If >= 3 Slots: + (10%/20%/30%) Melee/Spell Dmg / + (2%/4%/6%) DR. If 1-2 Slots: + (1.33%/2.66%/4%) DR.
  • Critical Care: Veterinary Rez chance + (33%/66%/100%) of normal, Rez with add'l (10%/20%/30%) Max HP [No PvP].
  • Deflection: Grants ((1.5%/3%/4.5%) * Control Slots) DR to non-Tank Followers within 2 tiles. Grants ((0.75%/1.5%/2.25%) * Control Slots) DR to Tamer within 2 tiles.
  • Guardian: Redirects ((3%/6%/9%) * Control Slots) Dmg Taken by non-Tank Followers within 2 tiles AND ((1.5%/3%/4.5%) * Control Slots) Dmg Taken by Tamer within 2 tiles amongst Tank followers (direct health loss, divided equally).
  • Hearty: + (10%/20%/30%) Dmg Dealt when > 75% HP. + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg Dealt when <= 75% HP.
  • Mending: Healing Amount + (12%/24%/36%), Curing chance + (20%/40%/60%). + (4%/8%/12%) Dmg Dealt if Max HP & not Poisoned.
  • Stalwart: DR + (3%/6%/9%). (25%/50%/75%) chance to ignore non-movement Debuffs (Cripple, Pierce, Hex, etc.).
  • Survival: DR + (4%/8%/12%).
  • Tolerance: (11%/22%/33%) chance to ignore Bleed/Disease/Poison tick. + (1.33%/2.66%/4.0%) DR while not Bleeding/Diseased/Poisoned.
  • Trample: Melee Attacks inflict add'l (DamageMax * (8%/16%/24%)) Dmg to 2 random targets within 1 tile of defender. (Target changed from attacker in Patch 24.04.04)

Ability Changes

  • Bad Luck (Black Cat): Now Passive. 15% chance on taking damage to reflect that damage (ignores armor, capped at DamageMax * 1.0) onto attacker.
  • Barb Swarm (Barbed Prowler): Fires projectiles up to 12 tiles, hits up to 4 targets within 2 tiles. Inflicts (DamageMax * 1.0) bleed dmg over 15s (+50% dmg to first target).
  • Beast Sting: Removed from creatures. Replaced by Utility Bestiary Upgrade.
  • Crush: Now Passive. 15% chance on melee: apply Pierce (10 * Slots) for 15s. If successful, (10% * Slots) chance to Hinder creatures 3s or Hamstring players 2s.
  • Drowned Barrage (Drowned Dragon): Fires projectiles in 6 tile radius, hits up to 5 targets. (DamageMax * 0.75) damage (+50% to first target). Applies Cripple (Slots * 2%) and Pierce (Slots * 5) for 15s.
  • Epic Barrage (Phoenix): Animation delay dramatically reduced.
  • Gorge (Cave Gorger): Inflicts (DamageMax * 2.0) damage vs entangled/hindered/hamstrung target up to 1 tile away, restores 5% Max HP.
  • Massive Dusk Breath (Dusk Drake/Dragon): Cone projectiles, hits up to 3 targets. (DamageMax * 0.7) damage (ignores armor, +50% to first target). Applies Weaken (Slots * 3%) for 15s.
  • Mule Ability: Now Innate for previous "Mule Trait" creatures. Carrion Beetle, Fire Beetle, Devourer Beetle also gain Mule ability.
  • Spell Surge: 15% chance on spellcast to increase next spellcast dmg within 10s by 125%. Phoenix now has this ability.
  • Spine Barrage (Otyugh): Fires projectiles in 8 tile radius, hits up to 6 targets. (DamageMax * 0.75) damage (+50% to first target).
  • Swarm: Removed from creatures. Replaced by Attack Bestiary Upgrade.

Effect Changes

Chill Effect

  • No longer reduces Attack Speed or passive Health/Stam recovery.
  • Now applies a stackable Damage Bonus received *by the applying player/their followers* against the target for 60 seconds.
  • Multiple players can apply Chill, but bonuses are separate per source group (player + their followers).
  • Max stackable Chill effect bonus: 25% (Note: Changed to 20% in Patch 24.01.13).
  • Chill effect bonus capped at +12.5% in PvP.
Example
  • Tamer's White Wyrm applies 6% Chill, Wyrmling applies 4% Chill.
  • Tamer AND both Wyrm/Wyrmling receive +10% Damage Bonus vs target. Other players/followers do not benefit from this specific 10%.

Player Aspects Specials

Command Aspect (Inspiration)

  • Description updated: "Heals your nearby followers for (15% + (3% * Tier Level)) of max health and grants them a +50% damage bonus that lasts until a 'pool' of (2000 + (200 * Tier Level)) bonus damage has been dealt, or 5 minutes has expired".
  • No longer has reduced effectiveness on Necromancy creatures.
  • Mastery Chain Aspect Effect Modifiers increase Healing and Damage Pool amounts.
  • Additional Inspirations refresh duration and add to the damage pool, but Damage Bonus does not stack.

  • Description updated: "Inflicts (600 + (60 * Tier Level)) damage divided among creatures within a 6 tile radius and applies a chill effect of (4% + (0.4% * Tier Level)) for 60 seconds (stacks up to 25%)". (Note: Chill stack cap changed later)

Discipline Aspect (Iron Will)

  • Description updated: "Inflicts (600 + (60 * Tier Level)) damage to target and increases your melee damage, spell damage, and damage resistance by (6.0% + (0.6% * Tier Level)) for 30 seconds (can stack up to two times)".

Underdog Bonus

  • Now an automatic mechanic for all Tamers (no longer Bestiary related).
  • Applies when Player Taming/Lore skills exceed creature's Min Taming Skill.
  • Intended to boost "weaker" creatures used by high-skill tamers.
  • View bonuses on Animal Lore Details page.
  • Bonuses:
    • Damage Bonus: (50% * (Effective Player Skill* - Min Taming) / 70)
    • Damage Resistance Bonus: (10% * (Effective Player Skill* - Min Taming) / 70)
    • Healing Bonus: (25% * (Effective Player Skill* - Min Taming) / 70)
  • *Effective Player Skill capped by the lower of Taming or Lore.
  • Can be disabled via "Enabled" checkbox on Lore page for testing.

Zoology Guild

  • System tracking server-wide creature type "Usage" (based on gold earned with creature type) over last 90 days.
  • Ranks all Tamable creatures (Min Taming >= 50) weekly.
  • Grants automatic combat bonuses (Damage, DR, Healing) based on rank (less used = higher bonus).
  • Replaces old Bestiary mechanic for unlocking Stable Slots via creature "Progress".

Accessing Zoology Menu

  • `[Zoology` or `[ZoologyGuild` commands.
  • Zoology button on Animal Lore Details page.
  • No need to "join", bonuses are automatic.

Zoology Guild System Overview

  • Weekly ranking based on 90-day server-wide Usage (gold earned).
  • Provides automatic combat bonuses based on rank.
  • Filter list by Name, Min Taming, Class, or Alphabetical. "Show Only Controlled" option available.

Zoology Stable Slots

  • Unlock +1 Stable Slot per unique Creature Type "Completed" (by earning sufficient gold with it).
  • Progress tracked in Zoology Menu.
  • Old Taming Bestiary progress automatically converted on patch launch.
  • "Hide If Completed" filter available.

Bonuses Display/Toggle

  • View applied Zoology bonuses on Animal Lore Details page.
  • Can be disabled via "Enabled" checkbox for testing.

Stable Slots

  • Starting Stable Slots increased to 10 (was 8).

Veterinary Skill

  • Tamed/Summoned Followers gain Damage Bonus: (10% * (Effective Veterinary Skill / 100)).
  • Player Heal/Greater Heal on Followers increased by: (50% * (Effective Veterinary Skill / 100)).
  • Increases Stable Slots by: (Veterinary Skill / 5).
  • Crossover Healing (Vet+Lore healing Players): Effectiveness increased to 50% (was 33%).

Veterinary Supplies

  • Healing/Cure/Rez Chances increased to 75% of Bandage effectiveness if only one creature target (normally 50%).
  • Now also targets the player, providing Healing/Cure at 25% Bandage effectiveness.
  • Now come in stacks of 200 (existing stacks doubled).
  • Commands `[VetSupplies` or `[VeterinarySupplies` added.

Healing

  • Crossover Healing (Heal+Anatomy healing Followers): Effectiveness increased to 50% (was 33%).

  • Bronze: +1.0% | Silver: +1.25% | Gold: +1.5% | Corrupted: +1.625%

Upgrading Old Links

  • Most existing Follower links (DR, Healing) can optionally be upgraded to Follower Attack Speed link via double-click -> "Follower Attack Speed" option.

Taming Skill Gain and Success Chances

  • Animal Taming skill gain rate greatly increased.
  • Minimum 5% success chance to Tame if Min Taming Skill requirement met.

Achievements

  • Names swapped:
    • Beastmaster (formerly Zoologist): Earned for taming different creature types.
    • Zoologist (formerly Taming Bestiary Beastmaster): Earned for unlocking Stable Slots via Zoology system.
  • Existing progress remains intact (display change only).

Summoner's Tome (General Changes)

  • Spirit Pact: Description: "+2% Damage Resistance and reduces casting time to 2.5 seconds".
  • Corporeal Tether: Description: "Healed by 0.10% for Each Mana Spent by Caster". Will not trigger if spell Mana is Refunded.

Summoner's Tome Upgrades

  • Binding Ward: Description: "+7.5% Damage Resistance".
  • Vitality: Description: "+15% Damage Resistance".

Air Elemental and Skeletal Fiend

  • Removed Updraft/Whirlwind abilities.
  • Added "Bleed" ability.
  • Added Cleave ability: "Successful melee attacks inflict an additional (DamageMax * 0.4) damage to a random target within 1 tile".
  • Tome Upgrades:
    • Gust: Description: "Increases Bleed ability chance by +50% of normal".
    • Windshear: Description: "Bleed ability Damage increased by 100%".
    • Cyclone: Description: "Increases Cleave ability radius by 1 and will now hit an additional target".
    • Whirlwind: Description: "Cleave ability now inflicts (DamageMax * 0.8) damage".

Fire Elemental and Lich

  • Tome Upgrade:
    • Glass Cannon: Description: "+25% Spell Damage but increases Damage Taken by 25%".

Daemon and Vampire Thrall

  • Tome Upgrades:
    • Greater Daemon: Description: "+10% Damage Resistance".
    • Growing Fury: Description: "Fury ability now increases Damage by 10% every 30 seconds to max of +50%".

Water Elemental and Rag Witch

  • Added "Elusive" ability (+25 Parry skill).

Energy Vortex and Jackal Spirit

  • Discharge ability description: "Every 10th melee hit landed will cause creature to inflict (DamageMax * 5.0) damage on its current target (which ignores armor)".
  • Tome Upgrades:
    • Abyssal Essence: Description: "Melee attacks have a 25% chance to count as landing two melee attacks towards triggering the Discharge ability".
    • Energy Surge: Description: "Discharge ability will now inflict (DamageMax * 10) damage".
