Outlands Patch December 15, 2022 is an update for Outlands.

This patch introduces Winter Dungeon Torches as loot, adjusts Stygian Rifts scoring and reward calculation, fixes Heat of Battle triggers for AoE spells, implements custom AoE damage handling for "Special PvP Players" (Faction/CCC participants), caps creature Melee Defense effectiveness, removes guild announcements for individual Prestige gains, adjusts Boss/Omni Boss player scaling limits and HP/Loot, fixes various Ships issues (dragging corpses, pulling players, releasing tamed), allows Checkbook usage while locked down, adds Gift Certificate notifications, fixes a Dungeon Flashpoints region issue, resolves an Aspect Tactics bonus persistence issue, guarantees Black Goods from Paragon creature stealing, fixes Disguise Kit restoration on death, adds item count display on Tomes, increases Parrying/Magic Resist skill gain, allows Potion Keg use from Bank/Friended House during PvP, adjusts Plant Guide accuracy, prevents Mount Token dismissal sounds while hidden, and fixes Immaculate Bookshelf rotation.

Winter Dungeon Torches

  • Available from December 15th through January 8th.
  • Chance to drop as loot from: Killing Creatures, Lockpicking Dungeon/Treasure Chests, Looting NPC Ship Holds/MIB Salvage Crates.
  • Adopt the Hue of the Dungeon/Wilderness/Ocean where found.
  • Blessed.

Stygian Rifts

Gameplay

  • Score increases by 1 for every 10 seconds player is Alive and in the Arena during the event.

Reward Points

  • Calculated Per Match basis (not overall ranking).
  • Winning Team: +1 Reward Point each.
  • Additional Points based on Total Pts within the match:
    • 1st Place: 3 RP
    • 2nd Place: 3 RP
    • 3rd Place: 2 RP
    • 4th Place: 2 RP
    • 5th Place: 1 RP
    • 6th Place: 1 RP
  • Ties broken by Total Damage Dealt during match.

Heat of Battle

  • Fixed issue where AoE Spells (Mass Curse, Meteor Swarm, Chain Lightning, Earthquake) weren't triggering Heat of Battle on caster when hitting players.

Meteor Swarm and Chain Lightning (AoE Spells)

  • Player targets now categorized as Normal PvP or Special PvP for these spells.

Normal PvP Players

  • Default category. Spell resolves normally.

Special PvP Players

  • Category includes:
  • Casts by Special PvP Players hitting *any* players resolve differently:

Special PvP Player Handling For AoE Spells

  • Damage Per Player and Total Targets Hit tracked separately for Normal vs Special PvP targets within radius.
    • Example: Special PvP Player casts Meteor Swarm hitting 4 Normal + 6 Special Players.
    • 4 Normal Players take damage as if 4 players hit (normal resolution).
    • 6 Special Players take damage as if 6 players hit (Special PvP resolution).

Resolving Damage for Special PvP Players

  • Damage scales up faster and to higher max. No Max Targets Hit limit.
  • Meteor Swarm (Special PvP): Base 5-10 Dmg, +4 Dmg per Player Hit, Max 40 Dmg per Player.
  • Chain Lightning (Special PvP): Base 10-15 Dmg, +7 Dmg per Player Hit, Max 50 Dmg per Player.
  • *(Note: Town Struggles, Stygian Rifts, Dungeon Flashpoints, Ship Combat, Contested Bosses, Omnis EXCLUDED from Special PvP handling due to tight spaces).*

Melee Defense

  • Players cannot reduce Creature To Hit Chance below 10% via Melee Defense bonuses.

Guild Prestige

  • Individual player Prestige gains (Societies, Achievements) no longer announced guild-wide (potential lag reduction).

Bosses

  • Now scale up HP/Damage based on participating players to a maximum of 30 players.

Ocean Bosses

  • Starting HP now matches dungeon counterparts (Mini-Boss 100k, Boss 200k).
  • HP scaling per player now matches dungeon counterparts (+25k Mini-Boss, +50k Boss per player).

Omni Bosses

  • Guaranteed to drop at least 1 Gold Mastery Chain Link.
  • Starting HP increased to 1,500,000 (was 750,000).
  • Drop 1 Mastery Chain Link per 500,000 HP (was 1 per 750,000).
  • HP scaling per player increased to 500,000 (was 250,000).
  • Now scale up HP/Damage based on participating players to a maximum of 40 players.

Ships

  • Ships no longer drag Boss Corpses or Fishing Frenzies.
  • Fixed issue where Tentacle creatures could pull players off ships.
  • Cannot Release Tamed creatures while onboard (can still release Summoned).
  • AoE Abilities from Player Followers (e.g., Barbed Prowler) no longer hit owner's Crewmembers unless specifically targeted via "Attack" command.

Checkbooks

  • Can now be used while Locked Down or Secured (if player within 2 tiles).

Gift Certificates

  • Recipient now receives immediate notification if online when sent.
  • If offline, receives notification upon next Login.

Dungeon Flashpoints

  • Fixed section in NE corner of Nusero Level 1 not registering as part of Flashpoint region.

Aspect Gear

  • Fixed issue causing Aspect Weapon Tactics bonus to persist in regions disabling PvM Secondary Bonuses (e.g., Stygian Rifts).

Thieves Guild

Disguise Kits

  • Fixed issue where players wearing Disguise Kit sometimes didn't restore correct Gender/Skin color after death/resurrection.

Tomes

  • Single-clicking Tome items (Mastery Chain, Dyes, Spell, etc.) now shows total items held inside.

Skill Gain

  • Significantly increased skill gain rate for Parrying and Magic Resistance.
  • Significantly increased Max Skill Gain allowed against individual creatures for Parry/Magic Resist.

Potion Kegs

  • Can now use Potion Kegs while Flagged in PvP if Keg is in player's Bank Box OR a House player is Friended to.

Plants

  • Lowered accuracy needed for Plant Guides to identify Plants in Plant Bowls.

Mount Token

  • Mounts from Mount Tokens no longer play sound on dismissal if Rider is Hidden.

Immaculate Bookshelf

  • Fixed issue causing rotation on server reboot.
