

Outlands Patch January 26, 2023 is an update for Outlands.
This patch allows Murderers into Faction Castles, introduces custom Faction Flag graphics, updates Castle layouts, changes Flag Steal/Secure Potential Score qualification, adds Heat of Battle removal on Waypost control, introduces the Underdog Handicap, replaces Daily Kill Max with Kills to Give, adjusts Faction Kill scoring, removes penalties/reduces loot in Faction Dungeons while adding Flag bonuses, restricts Faction switching near Tabula Rasa, fixes an Alliance/Faction joining issue, introduces Indirect Fire penalty for AoE spells without LOS, clarifies Faction AoE targeting rules, allows starting Arena Duels near Tournament start, makes Forensic Evaluation, Tracking, Camping, and Taste Identification bonuses always active while removing group/external bonuses, adds the "Quick Change" Player Customization for Echoes cooldown, adds Loyalty Experience sources for Ship Crewmembers, updates Crafting Menu display, adds Potion Bundle crafting, adjusts Crafting Queue defaults, updates Experience/Society tracking for bundles, overhauls Keg/Potion Keg crafting, adjusts Lethal Poison Potion crafting, adds War Aspect Distillation crafting, adds system messages for certain Wizard's Grimoire spells, fixes a Barding Song bonus mismatch, and stops dead Followers from using Regeneration abilities.
Factions
Faction Castles
- Murderers participating in Factions can now access Faction Castles without being Guard Whacked (must stay within Castle boundary).
Faction Flags
- Each Faction now has a custom Flag design.
Castle Layout
- Additional Exterior and Interior Faction Doors added to each Faction Castle for alternative assault routes.
- Number of pathways widened for better movement.
Stealing and Securing Flags
- Players assisting Steal/Secure attempts now qualify for Potential Score on ticks if within 50 tiles of the Stealing/Securing player (can leave Flag Room to fight).
- The main Stealing/Securing player must remain in Flag Room to maintain the attempt.
Heat of Battle
- Whenever a Waypost returns to 100% Control (regardless of controller change), Faction players within 50 tiles have Heat of Battle removed.
Underdog Handicap
- New temporary bonus stacked with Weekly Handicap.
- Applies against a specific Faction if that target Faction has more Secured Flags than yours.
- Bonus = 15% per Secure Flag Difference (max +60% for 4 Flags).
- Provides chance for 20% Progress Ticks (instead of 10%) on Waypost, Purification, Steal, Secure actions *against that specific Faction*.
- Example: Terran (1 Flag) vs Andaria (3 Flags). Terran gets (2 * 15%) = 30% Underdog Handicap vs Andaria.
Faction Kills
Kills To Give
- Replaced "Daily Kill Max" mechanic.
- Faction Kill only worth score if victim has >= 1 "Kills To Give".
- Regain 1 KTG every 4 hours (offline included).
- Regain 1 KTG per cumulative 100 Faction Score from Wayposts, Flags, Faction Spawns.
- Maximum 6 KTG stored.
- Message "You have earned a zero-score faction kill" if victim has 0 KTG.
Faction Score for Kills
- Victim with 0 KTG = 0 Faction Score reward.
- Valid kill reduces victim's KTG by 1.
- Base Faction Kill score = 10 (Note: Changed multiple times later).
- Upgraded Kill score = 30 Faction Score if occurred: (Note: Value changed multiple times later)
- Within 50 tiles of Waypost.
- Within 50 tiles of Faction Flag.
- Within 50 tiles of Faction Door (Castle exterior).
- Inside Faction Castle.
- Inside Faction Dungeon.
Faction Dungeons
- Creature 25% Damage penalty REMOVED.
- Creature 25% Health penalty REMOVED.
- Creature 25% Loot reduction REMOVED.
- Chance for Faction Spawn creatures increased.
Secured Flags
If Faction has Flags Secured in Castle, members receive bonuses inside Faction Dungeon:
- +10% Loot Drops & Special/Rare Item Chance per Flag (Note: Value changed later).
- +10% Faction Score from Faction Spawns per Flag (Note: Value changed later).
- +10% Damage Bonus vs Creatures per Flag (Note: Value changed later).
Faction Switching
- Guilds cannot switch Faction if Tabula Rasa occurs in next 24 hours.
Alliances and Factions
- Fixed issue where un-Factioned Guilds sometimes blocked Allied guilds from joining a Faction.

Area of Effect (AoE) Spells
Indirect Fire
- Players/Followers hit by Player-Casted AoE (Meteor Swarm, Chain Lightning, Earthquake) where caster lacks Line-of-Sight (LOS) take "Indirect Fire".
- Damage reduced by 50%.
- Does NOT apply on Ships.
Faction
- Faction Player AoE only hits other Faction players/followers (no blues) IF:
- Caster within 50 tiles of Waypost, OR
- Caster within 50 tiles of Faction Flag, OR
- Caster within 50 tiles of Faction Door, OR
- Caster inside Faction Castle, OR
- Caster inside Faction Dungeon.
PvP Event Participants
- Reminder: Players in Town Struggle, Dungeon Flashpoint, Corpse Creek Contest are NOT Faction players while in event zone.
Friendly Faction Players
- Existing mechanic still applies: Friendly same-Faction players in AoE radius reduce spell damage.
Arena
- Can now start Duels up to 5 minutes before a Tournament begins.
- Ongoing duels automatically end when Tournament starts (highest HP% player(s) win).
Forensic Eval
- Bonuses to Damage and Barding skill now always active (no longer require recent Skinning).
- Damage bonus message removed.
- Buff Icon removed.
Tracking
- Bonuses to Damage and Barding Skill now always active (no longer require Hunting mode).
- Damage bonus message removed.
- Buff Icon remains while Hunting mode active (as reminder).
Camping
- Player's own Damage bonus from Camping skill now always active (no longer requires recent Campfire).
- Buff Icon removed.
Group Camping Comfort Bonus
- Removed bonus received from visiting other players' Campfires (must have Camping skill yourself).
Taste ID
- Bonuses from Taste Identification skill now always active (no longer require skill use).
- Buff Icon removed.
Herbal Poultice Bonus
- Removed bonus received from other players using skill nearby (must have Taste ID yourself).
Player Customizations
- New customization purchasable: Quick Change.
Quick Change
- Reduces Echoes Cooldown to 15 minutes (flat).
- Requires "Jack of All Trades" AND "Jill of All Trades" customizations purchased first.
Ships
- Ship Crewmembers now gain Loyalty Experience from completing Special Fishing Nets, Fishing Spots, and SOS/MIBs.
Crafting
- Craftable items made in multiples now display amount crafted in Crafting Menu Overview.
Potion Crafting
- Highest level Potion per reagent type (Greater Heal, Greater Explosion, etc.) now has option to craft Bundle of 25.
- Requires Alchemy skill = normal Max Skill ceiling for that potion type (e.g., 90 Alchemy for 65-90 range potion bundle).
Crafting Queues
- Adding item crafted in Multiples (Potion Bundles, Aspect Oils) defaults "Craft Until X Made" value to bundle size.
- *(Note: May need to adjust existing Queues for these items).*
Experience and Societies
- Societies Job Progress correctly tracks crafting Potion Bundles.
- Artisan Aspect Experience and Crafting Antiquities gain/drop chances scale based on amount crafted for potion stacks.
Kegs and Potion Kegs
- "Keg" crafting entry removed from Carpentry.
- "Potion Keg" entry (Keg + Barrel Tap) removed from Tinkering.
- New single Potion Keg crafting entry under Tinkering: Uses Boards/Ingots, requires 100 Tinkering & 100 Carpentry.
- When crafting Potions, if no individual Kegs available but Stack of Empty Kegs is, system automatically removes one from stack to fill.
Lethal Poison Potion
- Alchemy skill range now 110-120 (100% chance at 120 Skill).
War Aspect Distillation
- Now craftable via Alchemy (was missing).
Wizard's Grimoire
- Magic Arrow, Harm, Fireball, Lightning spells now display system message when activated (for ClassicUO Cooldowns mechanic).
Barding
- Fixed issue sometimes causing mismatch in Song Bonuses received by nearby players vs original Bard.
Followers
- Tamed/Summoned Followers no longer use Regeneration-type abilities while Dead.
