Rune Tome

From Fiend's Outlands Wiki

Rune Tomes are specialized books created with the Inscription skill, designed to store and organize runes efficiently while also holding Recall and Gate Travel scrolls. A Rune Tome can hold up to 26 runes, allowing players to keep them in a structured order without needing to remove them from the book. This makes it an essential tool for travelers, dungeon runners, and anyone who frequently uses runes for teleportation.

In addition to storing runes, Rune Tomes have a built-in capacity for Recall and Gate Travel scrolls. By default, a Rune Tome can hold up to 50 Recall Scrolls and 50 Gate Travel Scrolls, making it easy to cast these spells without requiring reagents or additional spellcasting skills. While no Magery skill is required to use Recall from the stored scrolls, casting Gate Travel does require at least 50 Magery, or possibly just 40 mana (further testing is needed to confirm this requirement).

By default, Rune Tomes are not blessed and can be lost or stolen if a player is defeated. However, a Rune Tome Bless Deed can be purchased from the Prevalian Merchant, making the tome permanently blessed. Once blessed, the Rune Tome will remain in the player's backpack upon death and cannot be stolen. Additionally, players can expand the Rune Tome’s scroll storage capacity by using a Rune Tome Expansion Deed, increasing the maximum number of Recall charges up to 999.

Managing the Rune Tome

Players can add runes, Recall Scrolls, and Gate Travel Scrolls to a Rune Tome by simply dragging and dropping them onto the book. This allows for quick and efficient organization of travel destinations while ensuring the player has the necessary scrolls to use the tome at any time.

Rune Tomes offer a renaming feature that allows players to personalize their tome by giving it a unique label. This is especially useful for players who carry multiple Rune Tomes for different purposes, such as dungeon travel, vendor locations, or guild meeting points.

Runes stored in the Rune Tome can also be reorganized without needing to remove them. By clicking the "Manage Runes" button, players can access a menu where small arrows appear beside each rune. Clicking these arrows allows players to rearrange the order of the runes to their preference, ensuring that their most frequently used locations are easily accessible.

Upgrading a Rune Tome

Players looking to enhance their Rune Tome can do so using various upgrade deeds. The most essential upgrade is the Rune Tome Bless Deed, which prevents the tome from being dropped or stolen when the player dies. This ensures that players never lose their carefully curated collection of runes and stored scrolls.

For those who use Recall frequently, a Rune Tome Expansion Deed is available, increasing the tome’s ability to store scrolls. With this upgrade, the maximum number of Recall charges can be increased up to 999, allowing for extended usage without the need to restock scrolls constantly.

Decorative Rune Tomes

In addition to their functional use, Rune Tomes can also serve as decorative items within player homes. Using the Interior Decorator tool, players can rotate their Rune Tome into a variety of decorative forms, allowing them to display the book on shelves, tables, or other furnishings.

Despite their decorative appearance, these Rune Tomes remain fully functional. Players can still access the runes and scrolls stored within them, making them a stylish yet practical addition to any home or library setup.
