A Wizard’s Satchel is a specialized container designed to store Reagents and Spell Scrolls, offering both weight reduction and a chance to conserve resources when casting spells. These satchels function similarly to Quivers, but exclusively hold magical components.
Players can craft Wizard’s Satchels using the Tailoring skill under the "Wizard’s Satchels" category. These satchels can be crafted using any type of Leather Material, including rare and high-quality leathers, which provide enhanced benefits.
A Wizard’s Satchel can be equipped (occupying the Outer Body layer) or simply kept in the backpack. Both placements provide the player with the satchel’s weight reduction and resource conservation effects. Additionally, Reagents and Spell Scrolls stored in a Wizard’s Satchel no longer count toward a player's Item Count, whether it is equipped or carried in the backpack.
Players can easily transfer all Reagents and Scrolls from their backpack into a Wizard’s Satchel by shift-clicking the satchel and selecting “Add All in Backpack”. These satchels can also be dyed using Accessory Dyes, allowing for further customization.
Using Reagents from a Wizard’s Satchel
To benefit from the reduced reagent consumption chance, a player’s Wizard’s Satchel must contain all required reagents for the spell being cast. If a spell requires multiple reagents and one of them is missing from the satchel, the game will not pull the remaining reagents from the satchel and will instead attempt to use reagents from the player’s backpack.
If the player has sufficient reagents for a spell in both their Wizard’s Satchel and their backpack, the game will prioritize using reagents from the satchel first before checking the backpack.
Reduced Consumption and Weight Reduction
A Wizard’s Satchel provides two primary benefits: 1. A chance to not consume Reagents and Scrolls when casting spells. 2. A weight reduction for Reagents and Spell Scrolls stored inside.
When casting a spell normally (without using a scroll), the Wizard’s Satchel grants a base 10% chance that the spell will not consume any reagents. This chance can be increased further based on the quality and material of the satchel.
Similarly, when casting a spell from a Spell Scroll stored in a Wizard’s Satchel, there is also a chance that the scroll will not be consumed. This chance functions independently from the Inscription skill’s built-in scroll conservation mechanic, meaning that a player can potentially receive two separate conservation checks when using a scroll.
Example: A player with 100 Inscription skill casts Energy Bolt using a scroll stored in an Exceptional Quality, Mastercrafted Avarhide Wizard’s Satchel (which provides a 50% chance to not consume the scroll).
- First, the Inscription skill applies a 40% chance to not consume the scroll.
- If the scroll is still consumed, the Wizard’s Satchel then applies its own 50% chance to prevent the scroll from being used.
In addition to reagent and scroll conservation, a Wizard’s Satchel also reduces the weight of stored magical components:
- Reagents stored inside have a base weight reduction of 10%, further modified by the satchel’s quality and material.
- Spell Scrolls stored inside have a base weight reduction of 20%, with additional reductions based on the satchel’s attributes.
Wizard’s Satchel Modifiers
The final Reagent Consumption Chance and Weight Reduction depend on the satchel’s quality and material. Each satchel provides the following bonuses:
| Material | Chance to Not Consume Reagents or Scrolls |
Weight Reduction of Reagents |
Weight Reduction of Scrolls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exceptional | +5% | +5% | +10% |
| Mastercrafted | +5% | +5% | +10% |
Leather |
+10% | +10% | +20% |
Dullhide |
+16% | +16% | +30% |
Shadowhide |
+19% | +19% | +35% |
Copperhide |
+22% | +22% | +40% |
Bronzehide |
+25% | +25% | +45% |
Goldenhide |
+28% | +28% | +50% |
Rosehide |
+31% | +31% | +55% |

+34% | +34% | +60% |
Valehide |
+37% | +37% | +65% |
Avarhide |
+40% | +40% | +70% |
Example: An Exceptional Quality, Mastercrafted satchel made with Avarhide Leather will have a 10% + 5% + 5% + 30% = 50% chance to cast a spell and not require reagents
Example: An Exceptional Quality, Mastercrafted satchel made with Avarhide Leather will have a 10% + 5% + 5% + 30% = 50% weight reduction for reagents
Example: An Exceptional Quality, Mastercrafted satchel made with Avarhide Leather will have a 20% + 10% + 10% + 50% = 90% weight reduction for spell scrolls
