Skills represent a character's proficiency in various activities within Outlands. These attributes are advanced by repeatedly performing actions related to the skill, such as swinging a sword, chopping trees, casting spells, or taming animals. Many skills are "interlaced," meaning using one action can potentially raise multiple related skills (e.g., attacking with a sword can increase both Swordsmanship and Tactics).
There are 51 distinct skills available for players to develop.
Skill Basics
Gaining Skill
Skills primarily increase through successful use. The chance to gain skill generally depends on the difficulty of the action relative to the character's current skill level.
Skill Caps
Individual Skill Cap: Skills start at 0.0 and can be trained to a base maximum of 100.0. This cap can be raised for many skills to 120.0 using Skill Mastery Scrolls.
Total Skill Cap: A character has a base limit of 700.0 total skill points distributed across all skills. This can be increased to 720.0 through Skill Mastery
Stats
Characters have three primary stats that influence their core attributes and interact with skills: Strength (Str), Dexterity (Dex), and Intelligence (Int).
Stat Cap: Players have a maximum total of 225 points combined across all three stats. Near the cap, stats must be adjusted using the arrow controls (increasing one decreases another).
Starting Stats: Characters begin with a default distribution (details needed, typically balanced).
Stat Effects
Strength: Primarily determines maximum Hit Points. It no longer directly affects maximum carrying weight (see Carrying Capacity).
Dexterity: Influences maximum Stamina, the speed of bandage application (healing speed capped at 100 Dexterity), and melee swing speed (affected by Stamina, capped at 100 Stamina). Dexterity also scales the Stationary and Damage Delays for ranged weapons in PvP.
Intelligence: Determines maximum Mana available for spellcasting and certain abilities.
Stat Regeneration
Base regeneration rates per tick:
- Health: 1 HP every 4 seconds.
- Stamina: 1 Stamina every 2 seconds.
- Mana: 1 Mana every 2 seconds.
Note: Mana Regeneration and Swing Speed can be significantly improved by Food Satisfaction effects from Delectable Food
Carrying Capacity
Maximum weight a player can carry is now a flat 450 Stones, regardless of Strength.
This base limit can be further increased by the Camping skill.
Players also have an Item Count Limit (base 125, increased by Camping), though certain containers like Potion Satchels, Wizard Satchels, and Quivers can mitigate this for specific item types.
Exceeding Weight or Item limits incurs significant Stamina penalties on movement.
Training Skills from NPCs
Many skills can be trained up to a certain level (typically around 30-40) by paying Gold or Training Credits to specific NPC trainers.
How to Train: Single-click the NPC trainer, select the desired skill from their context menu, ensure the skill arrow is set to "Up" in your Skills menu, and then drop the payment onto the NPC.
Skill Mastery

The Skill Mastery system allows players to exceed the base skill caps:
- Increase the Total Skill Cap from 700.0 up to 720.0.
- Increase individual skill caps from 100.0 up to 120.0 using Skill Mastery Scrolls.
